The Asherah Foundation Welcomes four new executive board members

The Asherah Foundation is thrilled to announce the addition of four new members to our Executive Board.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. May Shana’a, Ms. Amber Kelleher, Ms. Dian Trabulsy Esq. , and Ms. Stephanie J. Lucas to the Asherah Foundation.

Dr. May Shana'a is a passionate leader and avid scientist. Established in leading global R&D organizations in FMCG and chemical companies for over 30 years. She has a track record in creating and implementing new strategies, organizations and new ways of working to successfully deliver business growth. Dr. Shanaa was the CTO and member of the executive committee at Beiersdorf and prior to that she headed R&D organizations in Ashland, Johnsons & Johnson and Unilever.  

With life experience in Lebanon, UK, USA, Italy and Germany Dr. Shana’a has a track record in building cultures, adapting organizations and commitment to helping women and girls to achieve their full potential. Dr. Shana’a is married and currently resides with her husband in Germany.

Amber Kelleher is president & CEO of UWRA, the membership association for United Way retirees and alumni. She also currently serves as a board member for Friendship Force International, an organization focused on promoting understanding, cultural education, and citizen diplomacy through homestay journeys. 

Amber has spent the last 15+ years in executive leadership and volunteer positions in the nonprofit sector, including managing director of the Association of Corporate Travel Executives and board chair of BRAWS: Bringing Resources to Aid Women’s Shelters. 

Early in her career, Amber served in program management, marketing, and consulting roles within international education. Her former clients and employers included the College Board, Linden Educational Services, NAFSA - Association of International Educators, and the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Amber lives in the Washington, DC area with her husband, two teenage sons, and their dog, Jack.

Dian Trabulsy is Head of Investments Vendor Governance at AIG Investments, the asset management division of American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) providing investment advisory and asset management solutions to AIG, its business units and third-party clients.

Dian is a licensed attorney in New York State. She joined AIG in 2013 as an attorney in the Global Legal Regulatory and Compliance group and has taken increasing responsibilities and seniority over the years advising corporate governance and transactional matters. Before AIG, she worked in two international law firms, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and King & Wood Mallesons LLP focusing on securities and transactional matters. 

Dian is the President of AIG’s Asian Leadership Network Employee Resource Group. Because of her pro bono efforts in human rights work on behalf of AIG in its partnership with International Refugee Assistance Project, Dian is recognized as an Honoree of the 2015 President’s Pro Bono Service Award. 

Dian received her Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, USA and LL.B degree from Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing, China, where she was elected Class Speaker at Commencement.

Stefanie began her career in marketing and brand building.  She was a founding partner in an ad agency.  The agency was eventually sold, and Stefanie took on the role of Director of Marketing with Chico’s, a publicly traded women’s fashion chain.  

Later, Stefanie joined Reebok International and worked her way up to be Vice President of Global Marketing on the Rockport brand. She was responsible for marketing in 29 countries.  

Stefanie then entered home furnishings at Rowe Furniture.  She took on an SVP role leading marketing, sales and merchandising and later became the President and Chief Executive Officer.  

After spending about 8 years at Rowe, Stefanie began working with global furniture company, HTL International, as President of the North American business.  She also led their luxury brand called Domicil.  

Stefanie used her private equity background at Boston Interiors as Chief Executive Officer and helped take the company from private to PE owned. Bassett Furniture then recruited Stefanie as Chief Merchandising Officer.  She became a member of the Board and oversaw the direction of over 100 retail stores.  

Stefanie joined American Leather Holdings in 2020 as Chief Revenue Officer.  In her current position, Stefanie oversees leadership of the brands called Lee, Bench Made Modern, Label 180 and American Leather.

The Asherah Foundation, founded in 2016, provides scholarships to women around the world who have faced great obstacles in life and are seeking a second chance through post-secondary education.

All of our scholarship recipients have demonstrated leadership and resilience in the face of civil wars, poverty, forced marriages, discrimination, among other barriers. The Asherah Foundation supports these women in their endeavors to obtain the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to change their communities.
