Maryline Jabar
Stella Maris Polytechnic (Liberia)
After being the victim of a civil war, an impoverished family, and abusive marriage, Maryline fought to liberate herself from the oppressive cultural norms that caused her suffering. She hopes to change the conditions women from her community have to face due to lack of education. Currently working towards her degree in Environmental Health Studies, she hopes to use her education to facilitate the development of schools, clinics, and safe drinking water facilities to improve her community.
Evelyne Manishimwe
International University of Equator (Burundi)
Evelyne is the perfect example that giving up should never be a choice. Despite losing her right leg in the Burundi civil war, she decided to pursue a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, working to become the voice of disabled people from her community, which are constantly discriminated against.

When she was 11, Sayyara’s home country of Azerbaijan declared independence from the disintegrating USSR. Despite the resulting upheaval, she was able to successfully complete her secondary education and was accepted into a university. Unfortunately, due to family and societal barriers, she was unable to complete her program and got married instead.
She is now a single mother who has supported herself and her son through tailoring. Now that her son is in high school, she has the freedom to pursue her dream of finally obtaining a higher education degree! She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Baku Eurasian University.
Jackline Samuel

After receiving her degree in Accounting and Finance, Jackline hopes to impact her community in South Sudan, by closely working with women who want to start a business. She believes that mutual efforts should be made in partnership with the public sector, local communities, and organization, in order to truly impact the whole society.

Maklin Hussein Al-Ahmadi

After fleeing the violence in her country, Maklin fought to access higher levels of education. She moved to Egypt with her daughter. She taught classes while finishing her PhD in Economics, through which she hoped to acquire the necessary knowledge to make a difference in her country, and to help it rebuild from its ongoing war.
Abeer Ghamdhan
Universiti Malaysia Perlis (Malaysia)
Through constant volunteering with mentorship programs for organizations such as the Blind Women Association, UNICEF, and the National Cultural Center for Youth, Abeer has dedicated her time to teaching children and raising awareness to the difficulties faced by vulnerable groups of people in Yemen.
Amani Jebril
Birzeit University (Palestine)
Already an accomplished educator, Amani noted the disproportionate impact that environmental challenges had on women, and how few women were in STEM fields. Determined to create change, she obtained a Master’s degree in Water and Environmental Engineering and Sciences. She published her research and has been influencing policy.

Forcibly displaced due to the violence in Syria, Nour sought a second chance at life through obtaining a bachelors degree in Banking & Finance.
Shakira Waru
Kampala International University - Western Campus (Uganda)
Shakira sought to improve the wellbeing of her community through seeking a diploma in Clinical Medicine.

Despite significant family obligations and illnesses, Sindia was determined to improve the life of her family and community through obtaining a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education.
